Intro to GIS - Own Your Map

Just getting warmed up in Introduction to GIS. This first exercise touches on map creation and design skills. ArcMap is the application used for this course and there will be much more exploration to come!

Process Summary

·         Access data file: R:\Intro2GIS\OwnYourMap.zip and load map into ArcMap

·         OwnYourMap.mxd is the layer in which I am working with

·         Explore the application

·         Work with margins and sizing

·         Add essential map items to include:

o   Title

o   Neatline

o   Direction

o   Scale

o   Legend

o   Data Source

o   Prepared by

o   Date

·         Explore the application and formatting capabilities a little more J

·         Export file OwnYourMap_AKM.jpeg to H: drive

·         Upload to Dropbox

·         Upload to Blog
